As a Software Engineering Manager for Customer Applications, you will put the system user at the center of everything you do, ensuring they receive the most value out of the products being developed.
Day to day, you will lead the effort of shaping the architecture and design of products while pairing with engineers using paired programming and test-driven development. You will own and manage running your application in production, achieving key performance and customer indicators for your digital products.
You will select, lead, counsel, and motivate small to medium teams, acting as both a player and coach. This hands-on leadership role involves collaborating on strategy across product portfolios with product managers and key stakeholders, and serving as the anchor of the team practicing technical leadership.
As part of a rapidly expanding global team with headquarters in San Francisco and London, you will contribute to knowledge sharing across the engineering community. This role offers the opportunity to help define IT policies and best practices while coaching engineers in an environment that pairs strong technical execution with deep customer focus.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8 or more years of engineering experience
- 2 or more years of management experience with full time software engineers
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Spring Boot, Kafka and microservices framework
- Good understanding of web technologies, such as Angular, SSO, Auth0, event tracking and monitoring tools
- Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing high-quality, testable code
- Hands on experience coaching and mentoring software engineers
Responsibilities
- Lead the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product
- Collaborate on strategy across product portfolios in partnership with product managers and key stakeholders
- Lead and participate in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
- Lead and participate in retrospectives, encouraging each participant to provide feedback with empathy
- Establish continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices
- Serve as the anchor of the team, helping guide the team in choosing the right technology and resolving technical conflicts
- Coach the team and lead daily practices of using paired programming and test-driven development
- Act as a player coach, leading by example in the day-to-day execution of building technical product capabilities
