About this role
At Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, we reimagine ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world's most beloved stories while transforming our media business for the future. As a Lead Product Software Engineer, you will serve as a high-level technical resource and go-to person, solving sophisticated challenges and finding opportunities to improve systems, products, and services.
You will lead projects where you work closely with engineering and product teams to scope and distill product requirements into design and technical specifications. You will write, maintain, standardize, and enforce code quality through test-driven development, and architect and design implementations while providing documentation and guidance to other engineers.
Our Growth, Commerce & Identity (GCI) organization builds innovative capabilities to drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney's streaming and digital products. The Client Engineering team delivers experiences across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ built on a common platform and shared technology, sharing knowledge and code for initiatives throughout Disney.
You will be a key contributor to project needs and the evolution of the team's practices, recommending changes in development, coding, maintenance, and system standards. This role offers the opportunity to support and mentor senior developers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadership while shaping industry norms for how audiences experience sports, entertainment, and news.
Requirements
- 7+ years experience building highly scalable and performant applications serving millions of users and requests.
- Experience architecting sophisticated technical changes, knowledge-sharing, and gaining consensus for solutions.
- Proven ability to lead projects and work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams.
- Strong background in test-driven development and enforcing code quality standards.
- Experience providing technical documentation and guidance to other engineers.
- Ability to recommend and implement changes in development, coding, maintenance, and system standards.
Responsibilities

- Apply experience and judgment in selecting methods and techniques to identify, resolve, and develop solutions to sophisticated tasks involving architectural application changes.
- Support and mentor senior developers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadership.
