About this role

As a Senior UX Designer on the Search Design System team at Google, you will serve as a design architect balancing systemic structural thinking with high-craft execution of fluid, native interactions. You will shape the living, cross-platform foundations that power the future of Search.

You will seamlessly shift between defining macro-level component architectures and crafting micro-level interactive details. You will use high-fidelity prototyping and dynamic specifications to move the system beyond static layouts into adaptive, intelligent logic for both human teams and AI workflows.

You will join a multi-disciplinary UX team collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, leveraging user insights to create industry-leading products. You will act as a critical bridge to engineering and a cultural catalyst, converting native design best practices and up-skilling feature teams across the broader organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of interaction design experience in product design or UX design.
  • Experience with design and UI implementation on web and native mobile platforms (such as iOS and Android).
  • Experience building design systems and establishing a cross-platform design language.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience with foundational AI concepts and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, or high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Integrate user feedback and business requirements into the design process.
  • Define macro-level component architectures and craft micro-level interactive details for the search design system.
  • Use high-fidelity prototyping and dynamic specifications to create adaptive, intelligent logic for human teams and AI workflows.
  • Act as a critical bridge to engineering and a cultural catalyst, converting native design best practices and up-skilling feature teams.
  • Architect tokens and components to establish a living, cross-platform design language for Search.
