About this role
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver to improve mobility and save lives lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers fully autonomous ride-hail and has driven over 100 million miles on public roads.
Design at Waymo is about the total experience—how the product works, feels, and becomes accessible for everyone. In this hybrid role reporting to a Manager of UX Design, craft the in-car experience by partnering with Creative Lead, PM, Eng, and UXR. Expand system-level entertainment with intuitive lean-back ambient interfaces rivaling smart-TV or infotainment.
Join a highly multidisciplinary team of UX Designers, User Researchers, UX Engineers, Content Designers, Industrial Designers, and more. Dig deep to understand user attitudes, emotions, and behaviors as the foundation for everything created. Build powerful tools for fleet operations and engineers who develop the Waymo Driver.
Execute hands-on iterative design to scale UI, transitions, and frameworks with bold ideas into patterns and prototypes. Evolve natural interface frameworks and define roadmaps for multimodal paradigms like voice, touch, gesture, and cross-device. Ensure global readiness through internationalization for markets like Japan and the UK.
