About this role
Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect and explore. The XR Team's mission is to give people superhuman abilities by making information instantly accessible. You will work on the Augmented Reality Glasses Maps team building user-facing experiences for navigation.
As a Software Engineer III, you will write product or system development code for iOS applications. You will review code from other engineers to ensure best practices in style, accuracy, and testability. You will triage issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing sources and impact.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and applications. We combine Google AI, software, and hardware to build innovative user experiences. The XR team focuses on a brand new frontier with augmented reality glasses.
You will have opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business grows and evolves. You will participate in or lead design reviews with peers to decide on technologies. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge AR technology at massive scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience programming in Objective-C or Swift.
- 2 years of experience with iOS application development.
- Experience with computer vision and augmented reality.
- 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
- Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Develop user-facing features for Google's AR glasses Maps application on iOS.
