Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond web search. We are looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas including artificial intelligence and audio processing.
The audio team in Open Media develops the next generation speech and audio processing tools based on the latest progress in AI and other modern areas of computation. In this role you will develop audio signal processing methods while applying machine learning techniques to real products.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and applications. Teams research, design, and develop new technologies to make user interaction with computing faster and more seamless across Chrome, Android, and YouTube.
As a software engineer you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. We need engineers who are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full stack.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience in C++ with an advanced degree.
- 2 years of experience with audio processing and audio algorithms.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience in mobile device, digital AV, video and audio codecs, media players.
- Experience in machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Design, research, and implement new open-source tools for audio processing such as compression or spatial audio rendering.
- Build tools that will be used in Google products including Chrome, Android, and YouTube as well as products from external partners.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers in the Open Media team and with other teams within and outside Google.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
- Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and their impact.
