Phased Delivery SME - Staff Engineer

New York City, US · Full-time · $117,000 – $237,000
About this role
CoreWeave builds next-generation gigawatt-scale AI data centers worldwide. These campuses advance through overlapping phases where construction, commissioning, IT deployment, and customer readiness run simultaneously across the same site. The Phased Delivery SME owns the enterprise methodology that brings each campus online safely and predictably.
You define phase definitions, entry and exit criteria, handoff checkpoints, and go/no-go gates. You establish the operating model that sequences utility readiness, grey space fit-out, white space commissioning, and liquid-cooled compute activation. Standardized governance aligns construction progress with operations and launch commitments.
The role integrates real estate development, design, construction, commissioning, facilities engineering, network deployment, server deployment, and EH&S. You manage dependencies across civil, structural, MEP, controls, cooling, power, and compute workstreams that advance at different maturities within one campus.
Success requires deep experience operating in ambiguity and leading cross-functional execution without direct authority. You drive frameworks that turn partially complete construction zones into operational AI capacity while maintaining safety and production integrity.
Requirements
- Deep experience operating in ambiguity across simultaneous construction, commissioning, and live production environments.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional execution without direct authority.
- Expertise in creating phase definitions, readiness gates, handoff criteria, and risk controls for large infrastructure programs.
- Strong background coordinating civil, structural, MEP, controls, cooling, power, network, and compute workstreams.
- Experience establishing governance models that align construction, facilities, IT deployment, and customer readiness.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise phased delivery methodology for large-scale AI data center campuses.
- Establish the operating model for delivering sites in progressive stages from early utility readiness through customer workload activation.
- Build standardized phase definitions, entry/exit criteria, handoff checkpoints, go/no-go gates, and risk escalation paths.
- Create the governance model that aligns construction progress, infrastructure readiness, safety, operations, and customer launch commitments.
- Serve as the senior integrator across real estate development, design, construction, commissioning, facilities engineering, network deployment, server deployment, supply chain, security, EH&S, and operations.
- Drive coordination across multiple workstreams that may be at different maturity levels within the same campus.
- Ensure dependencies between civil, structural, MEP, controls, cooling, power, network, and compute deployment are fully understood and actively managed.
- Develop and institutionalize site readiness frameworks for phased turnover of buildings, yards, utility plants, data halls, grey space, and supporting operational areas.
